Modified Pilates class to support the aging community in the Lanesborough area. Every movement is modified or adapted to sitting and standing, and brings Pilates to the people who are not comfortable or able to perform the work on a floor mat.

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:15-11am

Free for Lanesborough residents, $5 donation for non-residents

Joseph Pilates was a pioneer in the art & science of movement. He understood the importance of developing the “core” of the body, where layers of muscle contribute to the movements of the spine – flexion, extension, side bending, and rotation – and also stabilize the spine in preparation for dynamic movement of the limbs. In Pilates, we experience the body as a continuum of tissue rather than isolated muscle groups; we learn to engage and move with intention, using the breath as a means to focus the mind and to nourish a sense of flow. The strength and coordination developed by a Pilates practice becomes the foundation for all physical modalities, connecting the body, mind and spirit.
