Come and explore the synergistic relationship between Pilates and Yoga. They share an affinity for connecting the mind and body through breath awareness and nourish our sense of well-being. These vital disciplines strengthen us in different, but equally important ways. In Pilates, we develop the core muscles that flex, extend, side bend and rotate the spine with regard to stabilizing the pelvis. From a stabile center, we may then improve range of motion in the shoulders and hips. Healthy function is the primary objective of Pilates. We accomplish this by learning to focus our attention on specific, controlled movements - in yoga, we may call this “practicing with intention”. The physical and mental strength derived from a Pilates practice may produce a deep sense of support in each asana, allowing us to better organize our efforts and inhabit a posture without strain.
